Annotated MEPCO Bill — showing reference number, units consumed, amount, due date fields

Bill Fields Explained

01

Reference Number (Ref. No.)

Your unique 14-digit connection identifier. Located in the top-left corner. This is the most important number — you need it to check your bill online, lodge complaints, and make payments.

Example:05 1234 5678 9012
02

Consumer Information

Your name, address, connection type (Single/Three Phase), sanctioned load (in kW), and tariff category (residential/commercial). If any of these are wrong, visit your local MEPCO sub-division to update records.

03

Units Consumed (kWh)

The total electricity units used since your last meter reading. MEPCO reads meters monthly or bimonthly. The "Current Reading" minus "Previous Reading" = units consumed. If it shows "E" it means the reading was estimated, not actual.

04

Bill Amount Breakdown

Your bill shows multiple charge components:

  • Energy Charges — units × applicable slab rate
  • Fixed Charges — flat monthly service fee (Rs. 75–350)
  • FPA — Fuel Price Adjustment (monthly, variable)
  • GST @ 17% — Government Sales Tax
  • Electricity Duty — Provincial duty @ 1.5%
  • NJ Surcharge — Neelum-Jhelum surcharge @ 10%
  • TV Fee — Rs. 35/month (all residential)
  • Arrears — Any previous unpaid balance
05

Payable Amount & Due Date

There are two amounts shown: "Payable Within Due Date" — pay this to avoid late fees. "Payable After Due Date" — includes a 10% late payment surcharge. The due date is usually 15–21 days after the bill issue date.

⚠️ Estimated Reading Notice: If your bill shows "E" next to units consumed, it means MEPCO estimated your usage instead of reading your meter. You can request an actual meter reading by calling 0800-63726.
